About S.A. Ramsay
Currently located on the Japanese island of Shikoku, S.A. Ramsay has been producing artwork since the 1990s in various countries, including France, Thailand, Laos, South Korea, and the United States. Not restricted to any one genre, works have ranged from paintings and sculptures to performances and large scale installations.
Presently, the works have focused on confronting the audience with the often neglected brutal truths of life. While many choose the option of ignoring reality, it is S.A. Ramsay's goal to draw attention to the ever present dualities of contradiction shared by everyone (light/dark, old/new, empty/full, life/death, etc). Sometimes celebrative, sometimes disturbing, the humanist themes of the works are conveyed through the choice of materials, the interactive elements, and the specific presentation and location of each piece.
